Spending Time in the Secret Place

The secret place is more than just a place where you can meet privately with the Lord. The Godhead is where the secret is. That is who He is, and that is who He wants to be to us. We have access to the Holy of Holies through Christ's torn flesh, which gives us access to the secret place that resides inside of Him. It was torn for us in order to remove the veil separating us from the Father.

After committing sin, Adam and Eve hid from the Lord's visibly manifested presence (Genesis 3:8). Then the Lord banished them from the garden (the hidden location) He had selected for the manifestation of His presence (Genesis 3:23). The hidden place is inside the born-again believer. Christ's death has removed the barrier separating us from God's manifest presence, allowing us to enter.

Spending time in God's presence must be a top priority in your daily life. We all understand how crucial it is, but all too frequently doing things for the Lord takes the place of spending time alone with Him. This is the exact opposite of how we should approach ministry. We must first spend time with God in order to bear fruit for Him.

Moses understood the value of spending time in God's presence. He yearned to spend time in the hidden location. He was so desperate to be in God's presence that he was unable to continue without Him. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people if you don't go with us, he asked God? (NIV, Exod. 33:16). Joshua was aware of the significance of residing in the secret place with God. Joshua did not leave the tent when Moses returned to the Israelite camp after God spoke to him "as a man speaks to his friend." He lingered in God's habitation (v. 11).

We too must understand that the only way to achieve our God-ordained destinies is to prioritize developing a life in God's presence above all else. Without spending time with Him, we can accomplish nothing on our own and move nowhere in our callings. Spending time there allows us to release the keys to our callings. To find the true source of life, we must always turn to Him in a hidden place.

Furthermore, our love and hunger for Jesus deepen as we spend time in the secret place. Only when we remain in His presence can the most priceless treasures be created. Overworked, this is much better! Spending time in God's presence is more fruitful than any other activity.

The anointing is a process that cannot be rushed. Spending time with the Lord and developing intimacy in the secret place are necessary if we are to fully live out the callings the Lord has placed on our lives.
